I'm putting the latest of the films I worked on up. It's not like this is as widely seen as Youtube... infact I gather no one will randomly stumble upon my blog page.
Enjoy,
One Devil and his Dog.

Re-Posting the Clips
YouTube are just rubbish because they add the horrible stuff at the end and don't support widescreen. So I gave Photobucket a go and it's better.
These clips are from the most recent of my films. I directed and animated primarily and it's called, "One Devil and his Dog".
One of the opening shots, an ominous shadow of a demonic figure against the pipes of an organ. You'll notice that there's no sound, this is the case for all the clips from this film. Long story. I'm pleased with this shot, not the most realistic playing motion but it acheived it's goal.
Aahhh Buffness... I drew that dog so much. Here he is chewing up our layout artist, Nathan Evans. I loved keyframing this.. but I messed up on consistency with his teeth... something I'll watch out for in future.
An intended cringer shot, though the bum hole wasn't quite prominent enough to get the reaction. Ah well, I'm quite pleased with the jump, as brief as it is.
Probably my favourite shot. Many layers, many things going on and the only time I actually animated Stan (Satan) moving somewhere. It was gratifying to see the results of the paper explosion since I just started at frame one and drew one after the other without planning... just working out where the paper would be from one instance to the next. All apart from the sheet that hits Stan in the face were on one layer together.
My first attempt at animating things coming from the vanishing point. I know it's wobbly, I'm not entirely happy with it and it was a bit too ambitious an action for a first attempt. I am however happy with the animated layout, it's mainly just the characters I feel indifferent towards.
He's supposed to be saying "This is the last time I'll tell you... get... down... ... " and in the next shot he finishes with "NOW!" If you saw that and I think you did, then I officially win at lip-synch. It goes without saying, I really miss not having the sound with this one.
His real name is Sinbad since that's the only 'true' name for a dog... search your heart, you know I speak truth. However, for the purposes of the film he is referred to as 'Killer'. I tried to make him a little indecisive ... not sure whether he's a demon with doggy qualities or a dog with demonic qualities... either way, keep an eye out for his back legs.

That's it for 'One Devil and his Dog'. Moving on to my 2nd Year's film where I was animator and then last minute layout designer. Most people do the layouts first and animate to suit... we sort of did it the other way round and it was risky but fun to wrap layouts around animation we'd done already, positioned with reference to a very bodge storyboard. These clips, 'do' have sound!
One of the more provocative of shots. Compositing fuck up makes drool suddenly appear half way through, don't blame me. I'm sure you can tell that I'm heavily influenced by Ren and Stimpy and it shows through in this shot more than any other.
I really like this shot for it's composition, and this was my first attempt at lip-synch outside of flash, where I could see the sound wave on the timeline and extend frames or shorten them to suit. Turned out well. I know it's only a slice of bread, but see how he talks with his whole body? I'm proud of myself for even thinking to take that into consideration... it seems like something I'd definitely forget to consider normally.
Thought about this shot one day, did it the next. It was reletively simple to do but it was a grind. It reminds me of the toy soldiers from the beginning of Toy Story.
I'd say this was my most... conventional animation. I'm sure we've all seen this very action in other cartoons executed in much this manner. Never the less though I do like it, the initial jump is sort of slick, as is the landing afterwards.
Another contender for most Ren and Stimpy-esque shot. I was picturing Stimpy doing very much the same thing as he so often does whilst I was keyframing this. A unique attribute of Ren and Stimpy was the ability for both of them to acquire an entirely different face should the need call for it... for the emotion to be seen...

I do update... occasionally...
Yeah well, it's too easy to just keep adding to that one post you made ages ago. Here's a new post...

Did this a while ago for a dvd menu for a sort of dvd portfolio I tried to whip up. Did it for a mock interview in Uni, I was all clever about it... tried the dvd in as many different dvd players as I could find, not a problem. Took it to my mock interview and the bastard screwed up on me...
That's the AIB's spending on up to date top range equipment in action.
Anyway yeah, I like this style which is odd because it sort of comes naturally and I can do it easy... with most things like that I get annoyed with it for those reasons, but this style is excused.

Well basically...
Here we go... let's get this going then.
Troll Fitty... Goggles and Fireballs, it's Warcraft inspired... best get used to it.

This guy... I dunno... I don't know... I just... Don't know.

Started with a face and kept on going, and it just so happens she appeared to be listening to music on a bus.

Um... well you tell a joke with your mouth... and they call it a 'punch' line... so yeah.

Good Ol' Sinbad. He's the dog with the most. A concept drawing that I still like, he's as damagable as a newly aborted foetus.

Gimme that Dupain feeling, that sensation and the wash of euphoria that only comes with an Annecy Nominee film. I proudly animated on this and designed and did the final line art for all the layouts and not in an orthodox fashion, but unorthodox is the very core of Dupain dogma.
